8th Gujarat Criticon 2022 - an outstanding event

The 8th Gujarat Criticon - 2022 took place in the Karamsad city of Gujarat between the 7th to 9th of October 2022

The idea of the Gujarat Criticon was to set new standards of learning & knowledge sharing. During these three days, informative scientific lectures, interactive sessions & workshops were conducted by renowned experts in the field. In total, eleven national faculties were present at this event and they shared their knowledge & practice with the delegates. 

The event was comprised of two major parts:

1. Workshops
2. Conference 

A series of training workshops were held on the 7th of October (Friday) at the Bhaikaka University Academic Centre by the senior faculty members of ISCCM, Gujarat. More than 500 attendees including Intensivists, Physicians, Critical Care Specialists, Chest Physicians, Anesthesiologists, Doctors working in ICUs & Nurses attended these workshops. The topics of these workshops were as follows.

I. Critical Care Mechanical Ventilation

II. Comprehensive Airway Management

III. Haemodynamic Monitoring & POCUS in ICU

IV. Critical Care Nursing

For the next two days - 8th & 9th October, the conference took place at Neejanand Luxurious Resort, Anand. A unique aspect of the conference was a skit on Bugs v/s Drugs (Supervillain v/s Super Heroes). The act was scripted & performed by the intensivists of Vadodara. 

Throughout the act, the antibiotic prescription & knowledge of antibiotic selection were discussed very precisely & in a fun & entertaining way. The participants played famous characters like Mogambo, Gabbar Singh, Shakaal, Ajith, Chhota Bhim, Shaktiman, Bahubali, Krish, Munnabhai MBBS, Circuit, etc., and presented the message in a natural & logical fashion. The audience loved it and gained some valuable insight from the entire exercise.

The “Mann Ki Baat” program was aimed to answer the queries of the audience where the audience raised questions about critical care practice on a day-to-day basis and national and state-level experts responded to them.

There was a panel discussion with the core topic of “SEPSIS”, the theme surrounding the panel discussion was based on the famous Indian movie “Lagaan” and hence the discussion of the Indian local data & practice and International data & guidelines were debated like they are being discussed between Bhuvan v/s Andrew Russell team! 

On 9th October, a yoga session was arranged at the Neejanand Resort. More than 100 Oral papers & E-posters were presented by PG Residents & Critical Care Fellows from Gujarat & other states. 

The event also provided a gateway to all the delegates from their hectic schedule in their daily life, most of the attendees hailing from other Indian states spent some time visiting the famous nearby attractions of Karamsad city such as the Sardar Patel Home, Sardar Patel Memorial, Amul dairy, Vadtal Swaminarayan temple, Mahalaxmi Jain Tirth etc.

The brains behind this event were the members of the organizing committee and the intensivists of the Critical Care Department of SKH - Bhaikaka University Dr Sunil Chhajwani, Dr Samir Patel, Dr Abhishek Prajapati, Dr Rachit Patel, Dr Dhaval Prajapati, Dr Archana Sinha, Dr Gunjan Desai, Dr Bharat Prajapati, Dr Abhishek Shah, Dr Darshan Shah. This conference was a huge success thanks to their hard work.
