What are the bonds for PG Medical Students? NEET PG state wise bonds
The medical PG bond is applicable for NEET PG aspirants who are getting admission to different MD or MS courses in India. The terms of these bonds differ as per the quota of seats, type of institution and the rules determined by the state government. The MBBS graduates who appear for the NEET PG (NExT from 2024 onwards) exam hoping to secure a seat for their masters are bound to follow the bond rules.
The medical PG bond is applicable during admission to MD/ MS seat through either MCC PG Counselling or the State PG Medical Counselling process. The bond format and terms & Conditions are defined by State Government's Health Department in the case of Government Medical College and by Institute Management in the case of Deemed University Management Quota.
How many types of Medical PG Bonds are there? (MD/ MS Bond)
- Service Bond: The candidate needs to serve as a senior resident doctor after finishing the PG course. In case of Government Medical College, the state health department allot the hospital and department to all the candidates that clear their residency. In Deemed University’s case, most of the time the candidate is required to serve at the Institute's hospital. The Government Medical College service bond also includes a bond amount, in case the candidate wishes not to serve, he/she needs to pay the agreed amount to the Government to get his/her post-graduate qualification certificate.
- Discontinue Penalty Bond: It applies to students who leave their course midway before completing the tenure. Usually, it includes a financial penalty amount. These kinds of bonds are included in all types of seat quotas and categories across different categories of institutes like State Government, Central Government, Deemed Universities, and Private Medical Colleges. Such bonds may have a clause of paying all the stipend amounts that were received during the course.
- Bank Guarantee: Some State Governments ask for a particular amount of bank guarantee at the time of MD/ MS admission confirmation. The bank guarantee is issued by Nationalised Banks, they provide a document/ letter stating that the account holder has such amount as a Fixed Deposit against the course admission. This means the fixed deposit will be frozen till the student completes his/her course and fulfils the bond terms.
Do DNB seats have bonds?
Usually NOT except some State Government Hospitals recognized for DNB Courses have included the Service Bond as per the rules decided by the state health department. For example, Karnataka state.
