Admission to AYUSH Courses Through NEET

Humans have realized the importance of nature and the efficacy of natural medicines as a result of urbanization and global climate change. As a result, an increasing number of people are seeking scientific yet natural cures for their problems, increasing in demand for AYUSH courses. The Government of India also established the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) to promote these courses. All of this has contributed to an increase in the number of students interested in these programs.

To study an AYUSH course, candidates will need to take admission exams such as NEET-UG 2021 (for UG Courses) and AIAPGET (for PG Courses). Results of these exams are used to determine admission to AYUSH programs in India. The courses into which a candidate will be accepted are determined by their exam score and rank. This holds for all of India's public and private institutions. We have detailed the AYUSH admissions procedure in India using NEET in this article. Continue reading this article to learn more about it.

Courses in India in AYUSH UG

If you want to study AYUSH at the undergraduate level, there are numerous courses available in each field. In other words, candidates would be able to study Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy at the undergraduate level.

The following is a list of AYUSH UG courses available in India

Courses in India in AYUSH PG

Graduates of MBBS and BDS programs can pursue MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MS (Master of Science) programs in additional medical professions (Master of Surgery). Graduates in the field of AYUSH will be eligible to pursue postgraduate programs in AYUSH courses, such as MD and MS, as well.

AYUSH Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are identical to those for the NEET exam, albeit each college has its own set of requirements for applicants. This necessitates that the applicants visit the websites of the colleges to which they wish to apply.

The following is a list of all the requirements that must be met:

  • As of December 31st, of the applying year, the candidate must be at least 17 years old.
  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 or studied core topics equivalent to 10+2 from a recognized board. In grades 11 and 12, this covers physics, biology or biotechnology, chemistry, and English.
  • Through the NEET test, Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, and foreign nationals can apply for AYUSH courses.
  • There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exam.
  • For unreserved applicants, the qualifying aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology must be 50%. It is 40% for OBC, ST, and SC candidates, while it is 45 percent for PWD (People with Disability) applicants.

Admission to AYUSH courses via NEET

Candidates who want to enroll in undergraduate AYUSH programs must sit on the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). The scores and overall rank earned in NEET will be used to determine admission to AYUSH programs.

AYUSH Selection Process for Candidates

Candidates who have applied for the relevant entrance test, such as NEET-UG or AIAPGET, will be allowed to participate in the AYUSH selection process. Candidates must obtain a rank on one of the entrance examinations to be admitted to either undergraduate or postgraduate programs. As previously indicated, all admissions are based on the results of the entrance exam.

Candidates will be asked to enroll in a counselling process after taking the appropriate entrance exam. They will be asked their desired institution, institute, or university, under which they wish to study the particular AYUSH course, during the counselling process. They will be assigned seats through the counselling process. The number of seats available for various AYUSH programs will be determined by the candidate's performance in the entrance exams, such as NEET-UG 2021 or AIAPGET 2021.

The NEET-UG 2021 and AIAPGET 2021 counselling processes will allow candidates to choose the college and course of their choosing in the fields of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Candidates will be required to present their rank or score from the particular entrance exam.

Admission to AYUSH through centralized counselling

All India Quota seats in central universities, national institutes, private colleges, government-aided institutes, and 100 percent seats in Deemed Universities are available for these courses. For Deemed institutions and National Institutes of Central Universities, there are two stages in the counselling process, plus a mop-up round. Candidates can find the seat allotment list on the AYUSH official website after each round. Those who did not receive an allotment in the first round of counselling might participate in the second round by making new choices.

Admission to AYUSH through state counselling

States that provide AYUSH courses must conduct separate counselling based on the NEET merit list, as per the laws and regulations. Each state's eligibility standards must be established by the state counselling committee. As a result, there's a good chance that the criteria will differ. As a result, applicants must visit the website of the specific institution to which they wish to apply.
